Perfect 10 is the first product to use Clairol’s breakthrough formula, which works so efficiently that it does the job in just 10 minutes. The advanced color crème with micropearls allows for fast penetration into the hair fibers. Once inside the hair, the unique combination of effective ingredients targets the natural melanin pigment and deposits the new color without reacting as much with the surrounding hair protein. Micropearls are the color molecules that exist within Perfect 10’s advanced color crème formula. Each shade of Perfect 10 contains a unique mix of different colored molecules and conditioning ingredients to create the desired shade. Perfect 10’s advanced color crème with micropearls is what provides consumers with high gloss color in just 10 minutes.

Perfect 10’s formula is totally different from anything else out there. It’s not just about one ingredient—it’s the combination of new elements that makes it so exciting. It uses a unique lightening system—which is the heart of any colorant—to prepare the hair and speed up the color reaction, energizing color to move inside the hair, creating beautiful, high gloss color in just 10 minutes. It works at a pH closer to that of hair itself, making it gentler as it better protects** the hair surface. It contains a natural protein building block to deactivate damaging free radicals that are formed during coloring. It is this total package that makes Perfect 10 the first big color breakthrough in over 50 years.

Perfect 10 is less damaging** to the hair surface because of its unique advance color crème formula. Its active ingredients work best at a lower, gentler pH than most colorants, so Perfect 10 better preserves hair’s natural protective coating, called the f-layer. In addition, we have shown that the advanced color crème reacts more selectively with the pigments inside the hair than with the hair itself, causing less surface damage**. On top of that, the ingredient glycine works as an antioxidant, reducing the effect of free radicals formed during coloring. And last but not least, Perfect 10’s weekly ColorSeal treatment helps protect hair, keeping it smooth and soft.

Perfect 10 is the only product in the market that uses our patented AminoGlycine technology–;so it is totally unique. The huge number of 18 filed patents shows the level of innovation that went into this product. Some patents cover the effective ingredients that form the color in just 10 minutes. Other patents refer to the low, more gentle pH or the addition of glycine as an antioxidant. Yet other patents describe our unique PerfectColor Comb and the advanced color crème. So 18 patents really means we’ve put a lot of research, science and innovation into Perfect 10, to make it a truly unique hair color product.

Glycine is one of the ingredients that gave Perfect 10’s AminoGlycine technology its name. It is an essential amino acid and one of the fundamental building blocks of hair and skin. Its function in Perfect 10 is based on the anti-oxidative properties of glycine—meaning that it controls and deactivates free radicals that could otherwise damage the hair structure during the coloring process.

The development of the PerfectColor comb was based on feedback from our consumers who struggled with the traditional color applicators. It is designed to envelop each strand of hair in the rich color crème from root to tip for even color results and flawless gray coverage. The comb has 14 outlets to provide optimum color distribution—five at the tip of each nozzle, five halfway down each nozzle and four at the bottom between the nozzles. This ensures even coverage regardless of the length or thickness of the user’s hair.

Perfect 10 owes its great scent to our formulators and fragrance artists. The formulators invented a highly efficient color technology which works at a lower pH and therefore contains less free ammonia than other products. Ammonia is the ingredient responsible for the harsh smell of many colorants. In addition, our fragrance artists created a scent which not only masks the remaining colorant odor but is also based on the same principles as a fine fragrance product and has beautiful top, body and base notes.

A lot of work has gone into making sure that each shade of Perfect 10 matches the color results shown on the box. First, the shades were tested repeatedly in our salons on consumers to confirm just the right color results. Then, hundreds of natural hair samples of appropriate starting colors were treated with Perfect 10 in our color development labs and analyzed. The technical color readings were then translated into on-pack images. Latest imaging and software programs have turned this work into a truly high-tech process because we know how important it is for our consumers to get exactly the hair color they expect.

Perfect 10 gives shiny, glossy hair in several ways. First, it deposits high-intensity color deep inside the hair fiber, leading to more intense light interactions—visible as shine. Second, it works at a lower, gentler pH with an antioxidant, reducing the effect of free radicals formed during coloring and better protecting the hair surface. A smooth, intact surface is shinier than a rough, broken one. Third, Perfect 10 uses a dual conditioning system with the color crème and the weekly ColorSeal treatment, allowing the hair fibers to be more aligned and reflect light better.

WHAT PRODUCTS DOES CLAIROL MAKE?
Clairol makes haircolor products. Choose from Semi-Permanent (lasts through 8-12 shampoos), Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos), Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) or Highlighting & Blonding to help you become colorwonderful™.

SHOULD INDIVIDUALS WITH NATURAL, UNCOLORED HAIR USE DIFFERENT HAIRCOLOR PRODUCTS THAN THOSE WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY COLORED THEIR HAIR?
It depends on the desired result. If you are coloring your hair for the first time and only want to enhance your natural color, try a Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos) product close to your natural haircolor. If you want to go lighter, you need to select a Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) haircolor, then refer to the insert that comes inside your box of Clairol haircolor and follow the instructions for first time application.

SHOULD PEOPLE WHO WANT TO COVER GRAY HAIR USE DIFFERENT COLORING PRODUCTS THAN THOSE WHO DON’T NEED COVERAGE?
Most Clairol haircolor products will blend or cover gray hair to some degree. If you have a small percentage of gray (not very visible), use a Semi-Permanent (lasts through 8-12 shampoos) product, such as Loving Care. If you have a higher percentage of gray hair (up to 50%), use a Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos) product such as Natural Instincts, which will blend away gray hair.
On the other hand, if you have a lot of gray and want to cover it completely, use a Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) product. If you have 50% or more gray, use Nice ‘n Easy Gray Solution.

HOW CAN I TEST-RUN A COLOR BEFORE COMMITTING TO COLORING MY ENTIRE HEAD OF HAIR?
Strand test is a simple method for you to test haircolor on a portion of your hair before doing the entire application. (The instructions are in your haircolor box.) It’s an important step because it’s the only way to see exactly how the shade you selected works with your starting haircolor to achieve the resulting color. A strand test will also help you determine the exact timing you’ll need to color your whole head.
