<p>If it can be believed, this article claims that Caltech scientists have developed a solar panel material that is easier to manufacture and about twice as efficient as anything on the market.</p>
<p>This is the kind of game-changing technology that could bring photovoltaic power into the same price range as coal or natural gas. If the numbers here are right, the low range for efficiency (the rate at which solar energy is converted to usable electricity) will be about 75%. The best solar panels currently on the market operate at about 40% efficiency.</p>
